Root canal therapy is a restorative dentistry procedure that can be performed to salvage a severely infected tooth. Although root canal therapy has a reputation for being an uncomfortable procedure, we are able to make it as pain and stress free as possible thanks to the advanced dental technology we feature in our office.
Root canal therapy involves removal of the infected pulp at the center of a tooth. After examining x-rays of your tooth to determine the level of decay or infection, Dr. Barbosa will anesthetize the area surrounding the damaged tooth and clean out the bacteria and debris from inside the tooth. Once the infection is removed, the tooth will be sealed, and, in most cases, a crown will be placed to protect it from further damage. At City Dental, we are often able to perform root canal therapy and prepare the tooth for a crown during the same appointment.
